The Margolius Law Firm, LLP is a full service general practice law firm in northwest Washington DC. Firm partners, Philip N. Margolius and Jennifer Margolius Fisher are a father-daughter legal team with combined legal experience totaling over 50 years. Phil and Jennifer run a unique business where collaboration provides perspective, expertise and communication that bridges the generations of their clients’ families.

Phil2Philip N. Margolius, Partner has been practicing law for over 45 years. A native Washingtonian, Phil graduated from Coolidge High School and went on the attend Dartmouth for his undergraduate studies and graduated with an LLB from Yale Law School. Phil was a senior partner for almost forty years at Margolius Mallios et al. In 2002, he started a smaller version of his firm, where he could dedicate his time and take the utmost care in providing his services to his clients in a more personal setting.

Phil has been recognized as one of the District’s best and top Real Estate lawyers and also as a preeminent Estate and Trust Lawyer. Phil has been the long time trusted legal, investment, trust and foundation advisor for local families.

Phil was married to his wife Phyllis for 46 years. Phyllis passed away February 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. They have three children, David, Kenny and Jennifer. They are also fortunate to be grandparents of 5, Ma’ayan, Ro’i, No’a, Jocelyn and Jesse.

Phil is well known for his philanthropy. He has served as president of numerous Washington D.C. Jewish charitable organizations including Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, the United Jewish Endowment Fund and the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington. He established the Phyllis Margolius Family Foundation in 2014 and currently serves as its president.

Jennifer Margolius Fisher, Managing Partner of The Margolius Law Firm, LLP

Jennifer1A native Washingtonian, Jennifer graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a B.A. in Art History. Jennifer attended Washington College of Law at the American University and graduated with a J.D in 1999. Jennifer is the managing partner of The Margolius Law Firm, LLP and a co-Managing Member of The Margolius Firm, LLC. She is a general practitioner (licensed in Maryland and DC) who enjoys working in the areas of estates and trusts, corporate formation, business associations and commercial transactions, and private family foundation administration. Jennifer has been married to Jimmy since 2006. They have two children, Jesse and Jocelyn.

Jennifer has been engaged in charitable endeavors since childhood. At the age of 12 she began volunteering with teens and young adults who were to become residents and clients of the Jewish Foundation for Group Homes – participating in weekend and community activities throughout high school. She has been a member of the JFGH Board of Directors since 2004 and an officer since 2005. Jennifer was president of JFGH from 2012-2014.

Jennifer is a Trustee of the Aaron and Cecile Goldman Family Foundation and a Director of the Phyllis Margolius Family Foundation. Jennifer’s Pro Bono Activities include ongoing pro-bono services in the areas of governance, contracts and other areas provided to local charitable organizations. She also does estate planning for some of the underserved population in the metro DC area.
